How do your products differ from
the competition?
One of the most significant
advantages is the thickness of the wood inlay. Our products have the biggest wear layer in the
industry - 15mm or 5/8†solid wood. This is enough material to
refinish your floor many times.
Most other manufacturers use
5/16†or as thin as 1/16" veneers. Advertised thickness of their product is a
combined thickness of the thin veneer glued to a different thickness plywood
backer.
The thickness of the wear layer can significantly affect durability
of the floor. When the finish wears out, you only have one sanding cycle at
best. We are not in the furniture business. We are making floors that will
withstand normal household traffic for many years.

Are the designs painted on the
wood surface?
We do not use any stains to create
designs. Every pattern is made up from different wood species, carefully matched
by the designer to achieve the desired effect. From the picture below, you can
see the front of the B9 border. You can clearly see the different wood species
assembled to form a pattern all the way through. Note the thickness of
this shown border is 5/8". Standard 3/4" border would be mounted on the 1/8"
plywood base.

I have an existing 3/4" floor and
am concerned about matching the thickness of the artistic
parquet.
Modern Flooring
Artistic parquet is 5/8" thick. Per our installation recommendations,
glue artistic parquet over 1/4" Luan plywood underlayment. After sanding, this
will net to a thickness close to 3/4" and match in height to an existing 3/4"
flooring.
Modern Flooring Design medallions
and borders typically are 3/4" thick, but can be made in required thickness with
some limitations. |

What sizes do your medallions come
in?
We are offering medallions in
sizes: 40", 48", 60", 70" diameter and major length for ovals. Some models
available in the 30" and 24" diameter. However, we can scale medallions to
other, much larger sizes and also make custom shapes. For non-round medallions,
size is the major length. Some medallions may have a minimum size restriction.
If ordered with parquet - square and rectangular medallions can be scaled to
match parquet tile sizes.
Border width for each model is
specified in the description. However, it can be customized from 4" to 12" for
an additional fee. |

Is it possible to get different
woods?
Yes. You can specify the woods you
would like to use. There is an additional $100 fee for domestic wood
substitutions. There could be an additional charge for replacing exotic
woods.
If you'd like to make a modification to our existing models, please
print out the detail image. Mark your changes with a pen or marker specifying
element wood types. Fax the drawing to 718.252.6177. We will provide you

How do I order your
product?
You may place an order by calling: 718.252.6177or use the online form
on the Contact Us page.
To Request an invoice with online
payment option:
From the product detail window,
you may click on the link for a specific size or "Inquiry" link on top of the
detail window. You will be taken to the online form. Please fill all the
required information (see Note below) and check the "Send Invoice" checkbox.
You will receive an invoice via
email as an attachment. Please inspect the invoice to insure that your order is
correct. Email will include a secure link and clear instructions to make your
payment online.
Should you accept the Invoice and
Terms of Sale, please remit your payment to Modern Flooring Design.
Online
payment options are: American Express, Visa and Master Card. Or you may also
mail money order, personal or business check (allow 5 to 7 days to clear the
payment).
NOTE: For Borders, please indicate the
total length and the number of corners. For Medallions - indicate the diameter
for round medallions or major length for others. Please specify if there are any
special thickness requirements. (Read about thickness.) It is a
common practice to add 5% to 7% (10% for diagonal parquet installation) extra to
account for waste. You may find it helpful to use our Floor and Border Calculator to
estimate the quantity and cost of your order. Indicate if shipping address
is different from the billing address. |

Can I negotiate the
price?
Most of our products are made to
order. There are dozens of factors that may affect the price for this type of
merchandise. Medallions, for instance, can be made in various sizes, with
different wood species, different lead time requirements, etc. Modern Flooring
believes in the individual approach to our customer needs. Our staff will try to
give you the best possible price depending on the options you choose, the size
of your order, acceptable lead time, etc. Please contact us for a
quote.
Please note, that estimates and invoices are valid and will be honored
for 30 days. All prices are subject to change without notice.

Is there a minimum
order?
There is a 20 ln.ft minimum for
borders and 100 sq.ft for parquet or an initial setup charge of $100 will be
added to your order. At our discretion, we can accept orders below this limit.
Border corners are not sold separately. There is no minimum order on
medallions. |

What is the cost of
shipping?
For large parquet quantities and
medallions 60" and over, Modern Flooring is using the nation's largest LTL
carriers, such as Yellow. All shipping is fully insured and track able. Our
staff members will work on getting the best possible shipping rate. You may save
on shipping if you can provide a non-residential delivery location.
Residential service is considered
"curbside delivery." Meaning the truck will only go to the end of your driveway.
Lift Gate service and inside delivery may be requested at an additional cost.
Note: Standard Ground delivery,
Yellow or FedEx, does not guarantee date and time of the delivery. For
guaranteed delivery please request Expedited Shipping by Yellow or FedEx
Express. Our staff will provide you with the quote.
For other products, we use FedEx
Ground. Expedited shipping can be arranged for an additional charge. We will
provide you with the tracking number for the shipment.
Typical S/H fee for 40" medallion
is $85 in U.S. lower 48 states (because of the
larger box, FedEx additionally charges oversized package fee). Smaller
medallions typically ship for $40 to $50.
48" medallions are typically cost
$120 to ship. |

How soon can I receive my
order?
Typical lead time is four to six
weeks from the time of confirmed order to delivery. Some orders can be processed
sooner. Some may take a little longer. Prefinished item require additional 4 to
5 business days.
All delivery dates are
estimates.
We recommend that you do not book installation until you receive your product.
Please keep in mind that custom
orders may take longer to complete. Actual production lead time for custom
orders is starting after Modern Flooring receives a written approval of the
design drawing from the customer. The design approval process may take some time
depending on the complexity and changes to the original design.
More economical way is to choose
the lead option of eight to twelve weeks. This option is ideal for new
house construction and "not in a rush" customers. This option is NOT available
for stock items and can not be combined with other discounts. Please contact us
for details.
Unfinished stock items can be
shipped within 2 to 4 business days, after payment is
cleared.

Can I order something
custom?
Yes, we are happy to quote custom designs. The price is based
on the time needed to draw the design and to cut and manufacture the design as
well as the size and wood species specified. We will give you a quote based on a
drawing or photo. If you'd like to make a modification to our existing models,
please print the product image, mark your changes and fax
to
718.252.6177.
Typical process for custom orders
starts with Modern Flooring designers preparing a drawing with the wood map. The
drawing is submitted for approval to the customer. Our designers will make
necessary alterations if requested. Production will start after receiving
written approval of the design. |
